New Delhi. According to experts in Indian medicine and Indian veterinary science, consuming wild animal meat can pose a risk of premature death.

Eating wild animal meat poses the risk of contracting several dangerous viruses, known as zoonotic diseases. These viruses spread from animals to humans and can cause serious illnesses, some of which have even caused global pandemics.

Main reasons for increased risk

When people slaughter or prepare hunted animals, they are at risk from direct contact with infected blood, saliva, or other bodily fluids. Eating raw or undercooked wild meat increases the risk of viruses entering the body. Proper cooking kills viruses. Increasing human interference in forests and wildlife habitats increases contact between animals and humans, increasing the risk of spreading infections. In markets set up for the sale and purchase of wild animal meat, animals of different species come into contact with each other and humans, increasing the risk of virus transmission. According to wildlife experts, when wild animals roam the forest for food, they have to face attacks from poisonous creatures like dangerous scorpions, mosquitoes, cockroaches, poisonous scorpions, snakes, eating grass containing poisonous smoke, and drinking foul and polluted water from forest rivers and streams, viruses of dangerous incurable diseases remain present in the bodies of wild animals. Wildlife experts, Mr. Datt Prabhu and Mr. Sharad Chandrashekhar Joshi, retired Principal Chief Conservator of Forests of Maharashtra State, have stated that many of our forest officers have kept hunters and have been arrested for supplying wild animal meat to their leaders. This belief and thinking of politicians fond of wild meat is completely wrong. It is a natural truth that eating wild animal meat leads to premature death, agonizing death before the fullest. However, to suppress their sins, the heirs of deceased politicians are establishing memorials and colleges in their names. In fact, major viruses spread by wild animals have proven to be very dangerous.

Many dangerous viruses have reached humans through the consumption of wild animal meat.

This virus, called Ebola, spreads to humans through eating or coming into contact with infected animals such as chimpanzees, gorillas, and bats.

HIV is believed to be transmitted through HIV. The virus jumped from chimpanzees to humans, possibly through consumption of their meat.

Coronaviruses (SARS and COVID-19): Many scientists believe that coronaviruses like SARS and COVID-19 also jumped from bats to humans, possibly through an intermediate organism.

Monkeypox: This virus can spread to humans through contact with infected wild animals. This virus can spread through contact with infected bats or by eating food contaminated by them.

Prevention Methods

Avoid wild meat: The most effective way is to avoid eating wild animal meat. If preparing wild meat, wear gloves and practice proper hygiene.

Cook meat thoroughly: Ensure meat is thoroughly cooked to kill all bacteria and viruses present in it. Avoid unnecessary contact with wild animals and their natural habitats.

Following these precautions can help prevent these dangerous zoonotic diseases
