Mumbai. Counterfeit NBC bearings manufactured in China have proven to be weak and substandard for the operation of energy industrial units in Maharashtra. Energy technicians believe that concerns about Chinese NBC bearings are related to counterfeit products. NBC bearings are a reputable brand manufactured by India’s National Engineering Industries Limited (NEI). The problem is not with genuine NBC bearings, but with counterfeit bearings manufactured in China or elsewhere, which falsely bear the NBC brand logo. The Koradi Khaparkheda and Chandrapur Maha Thermal Power Generation Stations have initiated vigilance regarding NBC bearings.
Based on complaints received by the Electricity Headquarters in Mumbai, some of the major problems associated with counterfeit NBC bearings are as follows: Bearings are often made from inferior metals and have poor finishing. This causes these bearings to wear out quickly and not deliver the expected performance. The seals used in counterfeit bearings are not the correct size, allowing dust and other particles to enter the bearing. Raids in Delhi revealed that counterfeiters used laser marking machines to apply fake logos. Counterfeit bearings, especially in sensitive applications like automotive, can pose a serious safety risk, as they can lead to premature failure.
How can you identify genuine NBC bearings?
Authorized stockists recommend that bearings should always be purchased from authorized dealers or retailers. Otherwise, you may be exposed to fraud. NBC has launched an “NBC Connect” app, which allows you to scan the code on the bearing to verify its authenticity. It’s important to be wary of low prices or unusual packaging.
