“Happy Street, the village of uncles and nephews” in Koradi, located 15 kilometers from Zero Mile in Nagpur city, is a celebration of joy, unity, and positive energy: Shri Chandrashekhar Bawankule, former Prime Minister of Energy and current Revenue Minister, and Guardian Minister of Nagpur and Amravati Districts.
The “Happy Street, the village of uncles and nephews” program witnessed the direct participation of 5,000 to 7,000 people, a display of Marathi culture, the joys of childhood for adults, and a natural environment filled with lost games for children. Koradi Thermal Power Station, a key component of Maharashtra’s power generation, is emerging as one of the most reliable and efficient power plants in the state’s energy sector. Koradi Power Station has high expectations for high efficiency, excellent performance, and sustainable power generation. Koradi’s contribution to the field of electricity is growing day by day, and the Koradi Power Plant is consistently achieving excellence and setting new benchmarks. Projects to construct two new units at the Koradi Power Plant will soon be implemented. Upon completion of these projects, Koradi will emerge as a leading power plant not only in Maharashtra but also in the entire country.
Recently, various infrastructure projects have been completed at the Koradi Power Plant and Colony, and the Koradi Thermal Power Plant is poised to become one of the most important power plants in Maharashtra. Speaking at Happy Street Mama’s Village, Chandrashekhar Bawankule said that “Happy Street Mama’s Village” is the best option for recreation for the officers, employees, and their families of the Koradi Power Plant, which is working tirelessly for the national cause of power generation, through childhood games, traditional food, folk art, and sports. Kewalram Kale, MLA from the Melghat Assembly constituency, was present on the occasion.
Mahanirmiti’s Director of Power Generation, Sanjay Marudkar, Project Director, Abhay Harne, and Director (Finance), Manish Waghirkar, extended their best wishes to those present at Happy Street and noted that programs like “Happy Street Mama’s Village” have increased the happiness index and directly impacted the work environment.
In the past, it was our culture to visit our maternal uncle’s village to have fun, connect with the beautiful natural landscape, and strengthen relationships. However, with the hustle and bustle of life, the interest in our maternal uncle’s village diminished somewhat as our maternal uncles also moved to the city, and the virtual world of television, mobile phones, and social media took over, taking away the true joy of life. Human life became technologically advanced, and this gave rise to the urban concept of “Happy Street (Mama’s Village).” Its purpose was to divert traffic from the main road on holiday mornings, allowing people to have fun and play there instead of going to their maternal uncle’s village. To mark the 51st Golden Jubilee of Mahanimati’s Koradi Thermal Power Station, a “Happy Street” Uncles’ Village was created on the road surrounding the Workers’ Recreation Center in Koradi Vidyut Vihar Colony. Power station officials, employees, and families enthusiastically participated. Approximately 5,000 people thoroughly enjoyed the event.
Under the shade of lush green trees, the streets were beautifully decorated with colorful balloons, flags, and festoons. Regardless of age, family, and friends, everyone enjoyed the pure joy of childhood games. Four-wheeled bullock carts and bullock carts were constantly moving, and mothers and sisters, forgetting their children, enjoyed games like lagori, rope jumping, swings, cradle-cradles, finding uncle’s letter, snakes and ladders, and rope swings hung from nearby trees.
Parents who usually didn’t have time to talk at home were seen talking freely with each other on “Happy Street,” but even children were amazed to see their parents playing with tires and iron rings. It was observed that everyone, regardless of caste, creed, religion, age, or position, participated selflessly, sharing their own opinions. Through “Happy Street,” Mama’s entire village in Koradi was recreated. Scaffoldings and huts were built under the shade of lush trees, and crops were grown around them, creating a real village atmosphere. A small forest and pond were created near the huts and scaffolding, creating a jungle safari-like feel. The wild animals placed in various locations, which appeared realistic, were a special attraction for children. People of all age groups were seen eager to take photos at the various selfie points located at strategic locations. On the occasion of Kartiki Ekadashi, Bhajan Mandalis took out Dindi in the colonies, and the atmosphere became extremely devotional with the chanting of Vitthal’s name
